This stereo installation kit has been engineered to help you install either a 2” tall (Single-DIN) or a 4” tall (Double-DIN) aftermarket radio into the original vehicle dashboard. This dash kit makes radio replacement easier and comes with a pocket that is installed below the 2” radio to fill the extra space in the radio opening, which can be used for storage. The pocket is not needed when installing a 4” tall radio. The dash kit is painted scratch-resistant matte black to match the original look and feel of the vehicle’s dashboard. Modifications to the sub-dash are necessary to use this dash kit and detailed instructions are included. Installing an aftermarket radio can upgrade the sound quality and provide additional features the original factory radio couldn’t offer but requires this dash kit to make it fit.

Dash Install Kits Q&A
Dash Kit ( Why its a Good Idea ) |
Why do I need a Dash Kit? Today's cars have rounded edges, sometimes funky looking convex and curved stereo faces.
Dash Kits are designed to match your car radio console. For a Gapless fit with Aftermarket Radios. Many auto makers factory radios are bigger than aftermarket radios (Some will need a Pocket or Delete Plate) (Read Below) **
The sole purpose of an install dash kit, is to blend the new aftermarket radio so it looks like it belongs. Professional Install shops use these very same Dash Kits when installing new Aftermarket Car Stereos
Radio in-dash installation kits are designed, specifically for particular vehicles
* EXAMPLE : AFTERMARKET RADIO IS A SINGLE DIN & OEM RADIO WAS LARGER SIZED 2 DIN
(DEFINITELY WILL NEED DASH KIT - if wanting to close up the gaps) What is a Single-DIN, 1.5DIN, Double-DIN & Shaft Radio Mean? "Single DIN" = Standard Aftermarket Radio Size "Shaft Style"= Old type of radios w/ Knob Controls 1.5 DIN = Mostly Used by GM (in the Late 90's - early 2000's) 2 DIN = Many Stock Import Radios - 2xs size of Single DIN (often referred to as a Double Din) |
Careful of Direct Imports from China & Abroad |
Unfortunately there's an increase of Cheap Stereos being sold on ebay ; Amazon and the web, that do not fit the AIAA Standards. Many China radio models will not work with Dash Kits, because they do not pay the membership to the AIAA Aftermarket Association Guidelines : (Stick with Brand Names) just to be on the safe side.
Why? Because they make their 7in screens to fit into locations that do not require a fitment dash kit. *They do not have the info on size fitments. Not only are they oversized, some have Odd Wiring; and don't follow the 35yr old EIA color code. Don't have detailed info from the Manufacturing Companies who make the vehicles. Companies like Alpine, Clarion, Kenwood, Pioneer (except some *AVIC), JVC all fit; due to industry collaboration. Morotorized flip screens have similar Issues* Please Double Check the size of your aftermarket radio before purchasing this kit.
Boss and Eonon radios are notorious for being over-sized, please be cautious when purchasing these radios. There is Not a Dash Kit on the market that will accommodate these oversized Non Branded Radios. In essence, you get what you pay for, and unfortunately it becomes everyones problem on their attempted profit.
Double Din kits are design for use with USA Standard Double Din radio models only that are 6.2" 173mm x 99.8mm to 7" 180mm x 102mm (anything over 180mm will need to be trimmed)
